DOCUMENTS

Documents Requiring Certified Translation

My certified translation services are not limited to immigration and IRCC applications. I also translate personal, legal, academic, medical and financial documents such as transcripts, medical reports, court documents, contracts and bank records. Each translation is done accurately and in accordance with official requirements to support acceptance by Canadian institutions, government agencies, and organizations outside Canada.

Documents need a certified translation:

  1. Personal Documents: Birth certificates, marriage and divorce certificates, death certificates, passports, and driver’s licences.
  2. Educational Documents: Diplomas, transcripts, degree supplements, academic records, and course completion certificates.
  3. Medical Records: Medical card extracts, health certificates, and test results.
  4. Legal Documents: Powers of attorney, court decisions, contracts, immigration applications.
  5. Financial Documents: Bank affidavit, tax reports, income or employment confirmations, resume.

If needed, the translated documents can be notarized by a public notary to meet official submission requirements, apostilled or legalized.

Latest Updates on IRCC Translation Requirements from a Certified Translator

I share the latest information on IRCC translation requirements for foreign-language documents in Canadian immigration applications on my blog. I can help you prepare an accurate English or French translation, understand official translation standards, and correctly submit the original document or a certified true copy together with a complete word-for-word translation. My goal is to help applicants avoid common processing delays, document issues, or compliance concerns during the immigration process.

QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

I answer some of the most frequently asked questions about certified translation requirements. My translation service ensures that your documents meet official standards and helps guide each project smoothly for a variety of applications.

What does the word "Certified Translator" mean?
Definition provided by Canada's official website:

Certified translator
A certified translator is a member in good standing of a professional translation association in Canada or abroad. Their certification must be confirmed by a seal or stamp that shows the translator's membership number.
What is the process for submitting documents for translation?
I typically ask for clear scans or high-resolution photos of the paperwork for translation. Please submit them to me via [email protected], WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, or regular text message. You could also bring them directly to my office in person.
Do your translations have a stamp?
All certified translations have the translator's signature, and an official stamp or seal is applied when necessary. Example of what it looks like

If you require notarization, I can assist for an extra charge.
Do you offer certified copies of documents?
In Canada, only a notary public can legally certify that a copy equals the original document. For an extra cost, I can have your original documents notarized and certified true copies made on your behalf. Example of how it looks like
In addition, the translation package includes a copy of the original document. Example of a package
Are you able to assist with document legalization, authentication, and apostilles?
Yes, I can provide you with a full turnkey service. I manage the apostille, authentication, and legalization of your documents. For more information, please feel free to contact me via email at [email protected].

Here is a thorough guide on apostilling Canadian documents for use in other countries. It features various examples, photographs, explanations, and visual samples of apostilles. I have applied and tested these methods while working with multiple clients across Canada.
How long does a translation remain valid?
According to the Canadian Ministry of Immigration's official website:

A translation cannot change over time and should be valid indefinitely unless the original document has changed or has expired. If the signature of a certified translator or notary has expired, it does not invalidate the translation. As long as the translator’s certification was valid at the time of signature, the translation remains valid.
The only time the translation would expire and a new translation would be required is if the original document has expired or has changed and the applicant submits a new document.
